Stephanie Bowie, 38, was left howling in laughter after the PrettyLittleThing maternity nightshirt fitted her 6ft2 husband, three-year-old daughter and herself
A heavily pregnant mum was left howling with laughter after ordering from Pretty Little Thing.
Stephanie Bowie, 38, snapped up two medium ‘oversized’ maternity nightshirts to keep in her hospital bag ahead of having her baby.
But she was left in stitches after discovering it was so enormous she could fit her entire family inside it.
The 5ft 2in regional sales care home manager shared a hilarious snap online, where she mocked the fail as ‘ Instagram vs reality’.
Photos show the 37-week pregnant mum-of-two posing for a family selfie in the nightwear alongside 6ft 2in recruitment manager husband James Bowie, 38, and three-year-old Imogen.
After the impromptu photoshoot, the mum returned the colossal nighties and got a refund.
Stephanie, from Basingstoke, Hampshire, said: “Even though I put on about three stone in pregnancy I remember thinking ‘surely this is too big for me?’
“I put it on just to be sure and I probably laughed for about five minutes.
“When I could find my hands I took a photo and promptly sent it to all of my friends who then started laughing.
“I tried the other one on, which was a different colour and a different pattern, and that was just as big – if not bigger.
“I remember thinking ‘how can I demonstrate exactly how big this is?’
“It looked big on me, you could tell it was big, but then I thought ‘if I can get my husband my daughter and the bump in this picture you can definitely see it’s family-sized’.
“It definitely took family-sized to a whole other level – it was Bump’s first camping trip.”
Stephanie shared the hilarious snaps on Facebook and the post went viral racking up thousands of comments.
The post reads: “We all love Insta v Reality
“Well today I had a real #instavsreality moment that I just had to share.
“I ordered these two medium maternity nightshirts from @prettylittlething and I was excited for them to arrive.
“Popped them on as soon as they arrived this PM and soon realised that something wasn’t quite right.
“Nice to know I’m not a medium size in their eyes. But boy did I laugh.”
Fellow Facebook users were quick to mock the item in the comments on her post.
One commented: “I mean, they’re definitely oversize…”
Another wrote: “Brilliant! The whole family in one shirt!”
One wrote: “What a lovely tent you have bought.”
Stephanie was left in stitches after discovering how enormous they were.
The mum, who has since given birth to son Ethan, said: “I was very pregnant, I was about 37 weeks.
“I wanted a nightshirt for when I was in the hospital because they’re easy to unbutton to breastfeed.
“I’d been looking everywhere for a buttoned nightshirt – I’d been shopping in so many towns, and gone in so many different shops and there was nothing at all.
“I didn’t want to spend a fortune because it was just going to get destroyed.
“I looked online and these two nightshirts came up. They looked really cute, really nice on the models and I could just imagine that I was going to look amazing in them.
“So, excited, I called off the search, ordered them in a medium and thought ‘this is great, my prayers have been answered’.
“Flash forward about five days when they were delivered. I tried them on and they were just massive tent-esque nightshirts.”
After returning the striped and checked nightshirts Stephanie received a full refund.
PrettyLittleThing said that as the issue has been resolved they wouldn’t be making a comment.
